Hunter Mahan Swing Vision Slow Motion Swing
Hunter Mahan defeated Rory McIlroy 2 and 1 to win the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship.
The opening five holes were a heavyweight match where both players matched each other stroke for stroke. The deadlock was broken in a three-hole stretch starting at par-3 sixth where Mahan won the first of three consecutive holes. His birdie at the par-4 tenth earned him a commanding 4-up lead; however, McIlory came to life with an eagle at the par-5 11th and a birdie at the par-4 14th to cut the lead in half. McIlroy tried to further slice into the lead after he drove the green at the short par-4 15th, but Mahan responded with a key birdie save to thwart McIlroy's advance. This is Mahan's fourth PGA TOUR victory and second World Golf Championships title (2010 WGC-Bridgestone).
